Maltese Falcon flies past Lawler

Tony Drago produced a thrilling comeback to storm into the last 32 of the Liverpool Victoria UK Championship in Bournemouth yesterday. The lightning-fast Maltese No.1 recovered from 6-2 down to beat Rod Lawler 9-7.
World No.26 Drago fired in breaks of 93, 99, 81 and 75 to make it 6-6 and then won the last three frames for victory after a shell-shocked Lawler had gone 7-6 clear.
"You have no idea how much this means to me," a delighted Drago said. "The tournament is worth extra points and having already lost in the China and Welsh Open qualifiers, this was a massive game.
"I played like a fool in the first session, it was like being in a club and I didn't feel anything.
"So I thought I was out of it, relaxed and played probably the best four frames I've ever played to come back to 6-6. Then I realised I could win and became nervous again."
Drago now faces world No.1 Mark Williams tomorrow for a place in the last 16 but isn't worried about tackling the world champion.
"When I enjoy it against the top players I normally play well against them. After winning from 6-2 down, I'm not going to worry about who I play."
