Malta’s Chinese players disappear

Over the past few weeks, table-tennis has captured headlines following
the defection from the national squad of influential Chinese players
Lu Li Ping and Shen Chan. Their whereabouts are unknown.
These two
players had formed the backbone to the National team and brought
Malta glory in the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE)
for the past two years.
Many are
still asking where are they now and what has happened to them.
Others want to know the reason for their defection from the team.
Reliable
contacts who knew the Chinese players personally talked to MaltaToday
and explained that the reason for their defection were likely
to be due to the fact that many of the promises made to them never
materialised.
Lu Li Ping
came to Malta, 10 years ago while the other player, Ms Shen Chan
came to Malta four years ago.
