No revelations at PBS

By Kurt Sansone

Education minister Louis Galea would not divulge details on the reforms planned for the Public Broadcasting Services as discussions between the General Workers’ Union and PBS are ongoing.

Minister Galea told MaltaToday that the union and PBS are currently discussing the issues at stake.

Dr Galea also played down rumours that the current PBS chairman Anthony Tabone was going to be removed. When asked about Mr Tabone’s position Dr Galea replied that the chairman and board of directors at PBS were appointed for a two year term, which expires at the end of this year.
Sources told MaltaToday that the chairman was more than happy to occupy the sensitive post despite the controversy that has erupted over the Istrina charity programme and the Labour party’s recent boycott of ‘Where’s Everybody?’.

The same sources added that the reason for the rumour mongering about the chairman’s position might lie elsewhere rather than the political domain.
