Fascist
candidate stands up for Fr Mark
Joe
Meli, the fascist MLP candidate who dishes out business cards
with an email address that starts with DVX - short for Duce
has castigated this newspaper for describing radical priest Father
Mark Montebello as a renegade.
Mr Melis candidature for the Labour party at the forthcoming
local council elections appears to have the backing of most of
the top echelons of the party.
Mr Meli a self-confessed extreme right-winger and former Nationalist
diehard, was last seen posing at a press conference held by Labour
leader Alfred Sant.
Next to him stood Jimmy Magro, the secretary general who has
refused to comment about the candidates fascist tendencies.
Incidentally, Mr Meli told this newspaper that he does not utter
Sieg Heil when displaying the fascist salute but AVE, the Italian
fascist salute.
He added that he believed in Europe but that he could only see
Rome and not Brussels as the capital of Europe.
When asked if he would agree to be interviewed, the Labour candidate
said that he would have to ask for clearance from the party.
