New low floor buses for Malta

Exalco Holdings Ltd have been awarded the sole agency and exclusive distributorship by Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. Z.o.o. of Poland.

Amongst its diversified business activities, the Exalco Group of Companies, based at The Mayfair Complex in St George's Bay has been actively involved in marketing buses and coaches abroad produced by leading manufacturers. Mr Alex Monanaro, Managing Director of Exalco, stated that together with Solaris the Exalco Group decided to make an application to the Public Transport Authority to produce low floor buses for Malta’s public transport system.

The proposed Solaris low floor bus received the approval of the Malta Transport Authority as it conforms with the required specifications.

Solaris buses are produced in Poland to high quality standards that conform fully in all aspects with the stringent specifications required in Europe.

The low floor Solaris buses being produced specifically for Malta will have all the features of Solaris buses being sold in Europe and Exalco are confident that the bus buyers will appreciate all the advantages that this bus has.

Solaris buses can operate efficiently in narrow streets and crowded shopping city centres, with low fuel consumption and low operating costs. Having a heavy duty body made of stainless steel, ideal for Malta's roads, the Solaris Urbino 10.9, the name given to this type of bus, is comfortable, spacious and aesthetically attractive.

The Solaris Urbino range of low floor buses is designed with the maximum passenger safety and comfort in mind and includes Euro 3 engines upgradable to Euro 4, ensuring low emission requirements. Other features include 45 comfortable passenger seats, access for the disabled, large windows, good ventilation all around the bus and various optional extras. With its modern technology, combined with a focus on passenger comforts, Exalco are confident that the Solaris low floor bus will be highly appreciated by both the operators and the passengers.

Mr Montanaro explained that the first Solaris bus for Malta is currently being produced and delivery is expected in August. This first bus has already been sold on order and further orders are currently being negotiated with other local bus owners keen to acquire a low floor bus of the highest quality.
