Local businessman buys Nicholson’s of Fgura

Fgura: The Nicholson’s Supermarket of Fgura will soon open again under new management. A local businessman has bought-off the supermarket who has closed several months ago. The only Nicholson's supermarket's which are still opened for customers are at Sliema and Attard.

Mr John Buttigieg, owner of the pubs Scotsman and Ryan's in St Julians and owner of Papillon restaurants in Hamrun and Balzan will be the new owner of the supermarket at Gallarija, Fgura.

The main concern with the Nicholson’s chain of Supermarket is that the property of the chain is rented, unlike the Price club which owns all the property at its Supermarkets.

Problems regarding the Nicholsons Supermarket Chain had been evolving for a long time but the owners of Nicholsons have agreed to keep the ones at Sliema and Attard as they feel they were the only two viable ones.

The Directors of Nicholsons Supermarket seem to have set their targets. They are to keep the Chain of Supermarkets alive, to safeguard the jobs and to come to terms with the creditors.
