Labour MP apparently forgets to submit nomination

Surprisingly missing from the list of Labour Party candidates for the Gozo district is MP Karmenu Borg.

Indeed, Borg apparently forgot to submit his nomination on time with the Electoral Commission.

Contacted yesterday by MaltaToday for his reaction Borg said he did not want to talk to this newspaper.

Borg was on the list of approved candidates approved by the MLP’s general conference a week ago. Candidates for the general elections had to submit their nominations between Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 March.

Borg’s candidacy never materialised and thus the Labour MP will not be contesting the forthcoming general election.

The architect was joint spokesman for Gozo along with MP Anton Refalo.

The Labour Party is fielding seven candidates on the 13 district and the non-participation of MP Karmenu Borg means the MLP will definitely elect at least one new Member of Parliament on the Gozo ticket.
