Yesterdays opening of Parliament was marred by an open
exchange of blows between anti-warship protestors and passers-by
apparently escorting MPs on their way to Parliament.
The President of the Republic Prof. Guido de Marco made a strong
point for a change of ways in Malta on the threshold
of EU accession yesterday at the opening of Parliament. In his
concluding words, President de Marco spoke of EU accession as
tantamount to affect "all aspects of life" but not a
denial of "our cherished values and customs".
The circle of change in the Labour Partys deputy leadership
posts was completed on Friday with the election of Dr Michael
Falzon, who disposed of Evarist Bartolos challenge obtaining
67 per cent of the vote.
Labour Party President Manwel Cuschieri would not comment on
the disastrous showing he had on Thursday in the deputy leadership
race when he only managed 66 votes...
An execution-style showdown last Sunday has seen two men, Cikku
Fenech, 63, and John Pace, 38, being tried in the Law Courts for
attempting to murder each other, when Pace allegedly trespassed
onto Fenechs field in Mosta.
