Farrugia antics unite triumvirate
Anglu Farrugia is increasingly irritating the new labour leadership
and has surprisingly contributed to bringing the three men closer.
The Mosta lawyer who served as a senior police officer under the
convicted Commissioner of Police Lawrence Pullicino was one of
the main contenders for the post of leader.
Though his showing was not insignificant, he failed to dent
the backing enjoyed by Alfred Sant and was considered by many
not to be the ideal replacement of the Labour leader.
Politically very close to Marie Louis Coleiro, Dr Anglu Farrugia
was severely criticised in the Labour executive this week by prominent
members. He has angered members of the executive for his approach
to party issues.
Though Dr Farrugia and Ms Marie Louise Coleiro will never publicly
admit to being against Alfred Sant, MaltaToday was told that the
two are seen to be taking increasingly tougher stands against
their leader.
Strangely enough the three-man leadership appears to agree that
it can no longer tolerate what a contact described as: "very
unhelpful colleagues."
In the past Dr Farrugia and Ms Coleiro have libelled newspapers
for having the gall to suggest they were not in accord with the
wishes of the party leadership.
