Malta Transport Authority sworn to secrecy

The Malta Transport Authority would not divulge information to this newspaper about a consultant it engaged and paid Lm6,000.
Pierre Ciantar was asked to provide a consultancy service to the Authority in relation to the bus ticketing machines. He was paid Lm6,000 for his work. When MaltaToday asked the Authority whether the work was in respect of the ticketing machines on the buses or the ones that are on land, its PRO Daniela Borg Mizzi said she could not provide the information. MaltaToday also asked about Ciantar’s professional background and qualifications, but again Borg Mizzi said the Transport Authority was not going to provide the information requested.
The Malta Transport Authority paid Lm 1,133,154 for its ticketing machines, many of which have been malfunctioning on and off only a few months after being put into operation.
