Business Times breakfast highlights different views on what the future should be

The Business Times Radisson SAS seminar kicked off with three very interesting presentations by three heavyweights. Reform or Restructure, Budget 2004 was the theme of last Friday’s business breakfast organised by MaltaToday’s sister newspaper The Malta Financial & Business Times in conjunction with Radisson SAS.
Managing Editor Saviour Balzan introduced the guests to the theme, emphasising that the question that one should ask is whether the steps taken in this budget are short term or long term.
The lively morning debate was followed by a presentation by Prof Edward Scicluna who emphasised at the end of his speech the importance of giving more spending power to the Maltese tax payer.
MLP deputy leader Notary Charles Mangion reacted to this year’s budget with a long list of complaints on what he considered to be an incomptent government with a failing economy.
Upbeat Finance and Economic affairs minister John Dalli highlighted his speech with a final salvo entitled Agenda Malta.
At the very end the ‘real news’ in the whole event turned out to be the Minister’s insistence that the Labour Party actively involve itself in the formation of a social pact by participating in the MSCED.
More details on how to participate in next five business seminars are available from Gillian Bajada on 21 382741 ext 172.
