None of the Labour Party officials that form part of the administration will be contested in the general conference to be held on the 13, 14 and 16 of January, MaltaToday has learned.
The nominations for the posts closed on Tuesday and despite initial speculation that Secretary General Jason Micallef was going to be contested nobody submitted a candidature.
The whole administration, half of which was freshly elected for the first time in October 2003 is expected to be confirmed with a handsome approval.
Various nominations were submitted to fill in the 10 seats on the party’s national executive but their names will only be made public after clearance by the administration.
The general conference will not be discussing the Labour Party’s stand on the EU Constitution even if it is widely expected that Government will propose in Parliament the ratification of the EU Constitution some time in the beginning of the year.
One of the motions to be discussed is that proposed by MP Anglu Farrugia calling on a future Labour government to set up an independent structure to investigate allegations of corruption over the last 30 years.
