City of London Lord Mayor to lead strong business delegation to Malta

The Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Michael Savory is to lead a strong business delegation with expertise in financial services to Malta later this month.
The purpose of this visit is to promote still closer links between Malta and the United Kingdom, particularly in financial services, and to develop further the partnership of choice in the key sector between Malta and Britain, both in the European Union and in the Mediterranean region.
Savory and the delegation are scheduled to visit Malta between 15 and 17 February after having visited Libya and before a similar visit to Tunisia.
Savory, who heads the Corporation of London and is a banker by profession, has a wide-ranging role to ensure that the City of London maintains its position as the world’s leading international financial centre.
The Malta Financial Services Authority is to host a seminar on 16 February, at which the Lord Mayor will speak about the City of London and opportunities for co-operation with the Maltese financial services community and investors.
Savory will also speak at a seminar that day organised by the Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Finance on Malta’s plans to take forward Public Private Partnerships as an efficient, cost-effective means of service delivery. This seminar will be held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard.
Later on 16 February, the Lord Mayor will hold talks with Louis Apap-Bologna and Maltese business representative bodies at the Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise. At
The Lord Mayor’s programme also includes calls on the President of Malta, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Investment, Industry and Information Technology, as well as a meeting with the Mayor of Valletta.
