Industry’s turnover increases 19.5 per cent

Over December of last year, Malta’s Total Industry Turnover Index increased by 19.5 per cent, while its Employment Index decreased by 4.5 per cent while the Wages and Salaries Index and the Hours Worked Indexes increased by 3.4 and 2.1 per cent respectively.
The Turnover Index of the Capital Goods group increased by a massive 47.4 per cent over figures published for December 2003. Over the same period, the industrial group saw a decrease in its Employment Index of 36.1 per cent and in its Wages and Salaries Index of 7.6 per cent. The Hours Worked Index increased by 14.2 per cent.
On the other hand, the Consumer Durable Goods group Turnover Index registered a fall of 33.5 per cent. The Employment Index decreased by 31.1 per cent, while a fall of 37.7 per cent for the Wages and Salaries Index was also registered.
