Probably Hollywood’s hottest asset, director and producer Stephen Spielberg is expected in Malta in June of this year to shoot a film about the kidnapping of Israeli athletes in 1972.
Spielberg was already in Malta in April last year scouting for locations for the film which will be a chronicle of the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, when Israeli athletes were kidnapped by a group of Palestinian militants. Ultimately, 11 Israelis lost their lives in the tragedy.
Little is known of the film which for now has the working title ‘Vengeance.’ The scriptwriters are Tony Kushner, Charles Randolph and Eric Roth while the actors are expected to be Eric Bana, who took over a role previously destined to Sir Ben Kingsley, Daniel Craig, and Marie-Josée Croze.
