A spokesperson for the Environment Ministry said provisions relating to the right to information about emissions, a provision of the Aarhus Convention, will be catered for in amendments to the Maltese law which have been drafted.
When Malta transposed the Convention into law, the government had failed to include the right to information about emissions, but that will be rectified soon.
The Aarhus Convention was ratified in April 2002 and its provisions have been transposed into Maltese law through legal notices in 2001 and 2002.
The Convention, grants the public access to environment information and the right to recourse to administrative or judicial procedures to dispute acts and omissions of private persons and public authorities violating the provisions of environmental law.
