Kindly allow me to reply to the letter entitled, ‘Floriana’s Coat of Arms’ by mayor Publio Agius (MaltaToday, April 3, 2005).
Since, during the March 22, 2005 Floriana Local Council sitting, Floriana’s Deputy mayor Brian Zammit had asked Publio Agius whether he had, or whether he had not, taken the oath of mayor, and since, in his reply, Agius confirmed that as from December 17, 2005 up to March 22, 2005 he had not yet taken the mayor’s oath of office, one can now publicly ask Agius whether he had received honoraria for being Floriana’s mayor and whether same honoraria could be considered to have been received under fraudulent pretences since, officially, he was not mayor at the time.
