The government has collected Lm1,084,178 as Eco-contribution from December 2004 to March 2005 a figure which brings into doubt whether revenue targets will be reached.
In its last budget government had announced it wanted to raise Lm6.5 million from the eco-contribution that was introduced on a number of environmentally damaging products, and so far figures indicate the calculation was somewhat optimistic. At this rate Lm a mere Lm3 million will be raised. No figures were available to indicate how much was collected on a product by product basis, but the totals collected on a monthly basis were. Dec 2004 Lm370,844, Jan 2005 Lm 26,741, Feb 2005, Lm171,442, and Mar 2005 Lm515,151.
