I am sure you will agree that there are too many reported incidents these days in which knives are involved too readily in squabbles and quarrels, and even more serious and violent acts.
This must surely be causing concern and worry to the authorities of Law and Order and the private citizenry.
I wonder whether there is a handy portable metal-detecting apparatus which is available to the Police and the Armed Forces.
In this case road-blocks may be opportune occasions to stop and search not only for drugs and alcohol blood levels but also for sharp pointed instruments, i.e. knives.
Prevention is a better remedy than a subsequent jail sentence, suspended or otherwise.
