VISET Waterfront will help Valletta

VISET Malta plc, operators of the Valletta Waterfront, would like to refer to the comments made by Ms Anna Mallia in her article carried in MaltaToday on 10 July 2005.
Valletta Waterfront would firstly like to categorically refute any suggestion that it has had any involvement in the setting up of the Park & Ride Scheme or that this scheme is in any way designed to take business away from our capital city.
On the contrary, Valletta Waterfront believes that its success will only increase the number of visitors to our magnificent capital by once again re-establishing the historic basis on which Valletta was built, namely as a maritime city.
It is an undisputed fact that without the Grand Harbour, Malta would never have attracted the interest of so many world powers throughout history. Consequently, without the Harbour, Valletta would never have been built. Valletta Waterfront, by reviving activity in the Harbour, will help Valletta recover economically, socially and culturally. Unlike Ms Mallia, Valletta Waterfront views the Harbour and the City as one single interdependent destination.
For our vision of a revived Valletta to become a reality, the missing piece in the puzzle needs to be put in place. This is the creation of fast, efficient and comfortable transport options between the Waterfront and the city centre.
In this regard Valletta Waterfront has made a number of suggestions, including the cable car, but the authorities seem unfortunately unable to come to a decision on this issue.
In conclusion therefore, Valletta Waterfront believes that a successful capital depends on a successful Harbour and vice-versa. It is therefore illogical to suggest that we would try and take business away from the capital. Valletta Waterfront has kept its side of the bargain by creating a first class location along Pinto Wharf. All we need now is for the connection between Harbour and City to be completed.
