Not in my back yard

I can understand Gaetana Mifsud and most Maltese people being appalled at the thought of cremation – it has to be witnessed before you come to terms with it. For many years, I lived across the road from the entrance to a crematorium and was friendly with the caretaker who lived with his family in a house within the grounds. His job was security, gardening and general cleaning. Some people would buy rose bushes or perhaps conifers for him to plant in the garden of remembrance. There are no graves – the ashes go to the bereaved to deal with. So it is not a cemetery and having lived opposite a crematorium I would be willing to live next door to one.
