The EORC Biodiesel project has been short listed together with 12 other projects from various countries worldwide for the finals stages of the BBC and Newsweek World Challenge. The 12 finalists have now be profiled on the website www.theworldchallenge.co.uk/finalists.html and will also be televised in 6 dedicated world challenge 30 minute programmes on BBC World and in a special advertising series in Newsweek. Voting for the best project commenced last Monday 15th August and will remain open until 16 October. Voting is also open to the Maltese public via the website.
The EORC Biodiesel programme, entitled Fat Chance, was shown yesterday on BBC World while the profile on Newsweek will be issued with the publication of the 22 August. The winning project will be announced on 17 November and will receive a grant from Shell of US 20,000 dollars.
The World Challenge, organised by BBC World and Newsweek in association with Shell, is a competition aimed at finding entrepreneurs whose projects are making a difference to communities. The World Challenge is all about global involvement, casting a net for ideas from individuals or groups deserving recognition. In the process they also hope to inspire would-be entrepreneurs.
