During the second quarter of this year the labour cost index in the Capital Goods sectors increased by 19.4 per cent to 108.7 per cent from 91.0 per cent in the previous year.
The labour cost index in respect of the Consumer Durables sectors increased by 7.1 per cent from 115.0 per cent for the second quarter 2004 to 123.2 per cent in 2005. In the same period, an increase of 8.8 per cent was registered in the consumer non-durables sectors, from 118.8 per cent in 2004 to 129.3 per cent in 2005.
During the April - June 2005 quarter the index in the energy group increased by 2.5 per cent to 111.8 per cent from 109.1per cent a year earlier.
At 113.9, the labour cost index for the intermediate goods sectors in the second quarter this year increased by 12.2 per cent from 101.6 per cent in 2004.
The labour cost index for the total industry increased by 9.8 percent from 107.8 per cent in the second quarter 2004 to 118.4 per cent for the same period in 2005.
