Psychic phenomena

Erika Brincat meets up with Pasha who is slowly making a name for himself on the island as an accurate psychic reader, to discover what he’s all about. There may appear to be a thick line between culture and metaphysics but we have decided to cross it, and as he tells her “fortunetellers have always been a part of life, and therefore they are undeniably a part of culture too.”

How long have you been living in Malta and how did you develop your path as a psychic here?
I have been living in Malta for a few years now. In the beginning I was staying in a hotel, and I met a woman who was very sad because her daughter had broken both her legs. I simply touched the child and knew how it had happened- through a skiing accident, and went on to give her hope on the future that she’d recover and the family would reunite again. This woman was from Scotland and she sent me an email after some time to confirm that indeed everything was alright. I often receive emails from clients from overseas, emailing me the follow up, to let me know things did turn out well, or as foretold.

Has this gift always been with you, and had it started while you were still living in Russia?
I was born with it. You can’t learn it. It may sound like a cliché but it was in my family for generations, although my mother was more into healing people that telling their future. It is proven from a scientific way even that one can heal using the sound vibration of prayer. Anger is strong energy and one must be careful what one says as it can have the desired effect at times. For me knowing the future was normal. As a child my dreams used to literally come true, and if I dreamt of someone I knew we would hear from them that day.
Are people shocked when they find out what you do for a living or has it become more accepted?
First of all I don’t do it for a living, but because I have the urge to help people. At times I even want to stop what I’m doing because I feel I am being overloaded with other people’s problems but then when this happens within a few days I feel the need to start helping others again.

Would you say your talent is about mind reading or intuiting the energy of the moment?
I am a psychic clairvoyant. Although I use cards during a reading, that’s just the performance part of things. I can simply ‘see’ the person and pick up the information. I somehow have access to this library of information. I’m not ‘seeing’ all the time, but sometimes it happens unexpectedly, e.g. if I shake someone’s hands.

Is there any risk that if you are not totally accurate one of your clients may become angry towards you?
No because I am just telling them what I’m seeing, sometimes I don’t even know what it means but they do. Whether it is good or bad it is up to them to accept it and I am not in anyway responsible for it.

What is the strangest experience you have had that perhaps confirmed your ability to read the situation properly?
There are several occasions. Once I had a client and during his reading I had a vision about an apartment with wallpaper, a party was being held and a bald guy came in and attacked him with a knife. This seemed unrealistic to him at the time however three to four months later his brother bought a new apartment with wallpaper and during the housewarming party this bald guy walked in, and my client seeing this had the feeling he should leave. The next day he found out a fight did break out and although there was no knife involved he was smart enough to avoid this negative situation.
Another time it was clear that my client was mentally sick and paranoid that her parents were poisoning her when in truth they were just giving her medication to calm her down a bit. I explained this to her and from then on she starting accepting her pills. Her father called to thank me for this and I was very touched by the situation.
On the 7 of January 2004, I dreamt that a friend of mind was crying, and then I saw a dead body covered on the floor, and knew it was someone who died suddenly. I was worried that the two images were somehow correlated, but my friend did call and she was crying about something altogether different, not about death. Later that day just outside Baystreet I saw a body covered on the street. Somebody had been pushed from the 7 floor. So once again I saw what would happen in my dreams.
On a positive note, I also had a friend who had several miscarriages, and I saw she would get pregnant and this time it would last over 3 months. After I hadn’t seen her for a long time, I asked about her and discovered that indeed she was pregnant but hadn’t told anyone out of fear of something going wrong, however everything was fine and she had the baby.

Is it easier for you to deal with individuals on a personal level or have you also had any intuitions on a global level?
Yes I occasionally see things on a global scale too, such as the night before September 11 I had a dream where two tall Americans were standing and somebody was cutting off their head with a huge sword, although I did not see the face of the perpetrator. This dream of course was symbolic of the event.

Can you predict some things about your own future or is your gift only to be used to help others?
In my dreams I can occasionally see something about my self, but generally it is used to help others. I cannot do it for my self except in my dreams. To some extent I can also give health advice, and I can know for example where someone has a scar on their body, because I can feel the pain my self in my own body.

Have your intuitions ever put you in an awkward, difficult, embarrassing or humorous position?
Many times! I don’t do it purposely but at times I also see the dead. If they come they come. I can also know when people are dying unfortunately.
Once I was introduced to a couple who were married, but as I shook his hand I knew instantly he was gay. Another time friends of mine were expecting a baby and one day I knew she was going to deliver that day so I turned up at their house with an ambulance just in time, without even calling them or letting them know, and a few hours later she had a baby! The nurses were quite amazed, and my friends wondered why I hadn’t called them to notify them beforehand at least!
In the end, I’m also learning from all of these people because I also have my problems but God will never give you more than you can carry, and you must never complain about your situation. There is a reason for everything. I believe in destiny. And I don’t ‘believe’ in God because I ‘know’ he exists.
