Save all that tension and anticipation for the antics of the participants on reality show L-Ispjun. They have already been released out into the open, as the show is in fact recorded.
The only live segment of the ersatz Big Brother, which does not come with the live broadcast of the dwellers in action, is the studio presentation by Graziella Attard Previ who ups the ante on a story that has already unfolded.
Producer Pierre Portelli says nobody is being made fun of: “the house part has already been recorded, and we have never said it would be live. You are seeing what they did over 25 days whilst they were together. We said this in our press conference.”
Portelli justifies the jumbled genre as mirroring foreign reality shows like America’s Top Models, but says his experiment is proving to be successful, with a remarkable 86,000 viewers tuning in to watch L-Ispjun already.
Recorded over the span of a month, L-Ispjun is broadcast every Wednesday night, where viewers can call or sms their favourite participant, and decide the final victor who will bag Lm10,000 in cash.
The participants of L-Ispjun are however, already out in the open, watching the drama they lived from the comfort of their homes. Whilst their job has already been done, the ‘riveting’ part is left to presenter Graziella Attard Previ, who animates the live segment with some faux anticipation of something which has already happened.
Portelli says the problems of getting 12 people to give up their normal lives for a long period of time was a difficult thing to do. He said L-Ispjun’s own formula was the closest they could come to the worldwide reality show that has delivered unforgettable moments of humiliation and pathetic squabbles between the housebound contestants.
Portelli however says the recorded version has saved them from the risks of embarrassing moments happening live as has happened on Big Brother.
“The experiment was also done the right way, with cameras watching them 24-7 and installed all across the house, not like other programmes which had the cameras running after them. And some interesting things are going to happen.”
Ok then, let’s see what those unpredictable guys did last month.
