Resignations

How many people would resign if we applied the rules of English politics? Here we have the example of Blunkett who resigned his ministerial post twice. He resigned the first time on allegations that his nanny was given rapid treatment to obtain a visa to the USA. Are these petty perks not common practice in Malta? Blunkett resigned recently because, after having to resign his ministerial post, he obtained employment with a private firm and the rules required him to stay away from exposing himself to a situation of a conflict of interest for a period of time. Where do our politicians draw their line of conflict?
It is popularly known how some of our ministers became also part-time farmers and others had members of their family engaging themselves in business to benefit from the political position of their patron; water turning into whiskey and contracts worth thousands of liri given to contractors who are not equipped to carry out the works. A ministry that promotes information technology with branches that take you down to intertwining rivers. The list is unending. And yet we have our decision makes who would jump with anger if you dare speak about any examples of improper conduct.
This is the contrast between England and tiny Malta.
