BOV and Manoel Theatre seats

Reference is made to an opinion article by Dr Anna Mallia entitled “Kultura Rock” published in the 13 November edition of your newspaper, and specifically to the statement she made that “in the first day of each opera, more than half the Manoel Theatre is for the exclusive use of the Bank of Valletta guests”.
To put the record straight, Bank of Valletta would like to inform your readers that the statement made by Dr Mallia is totally incorrect in view of the fact that the amount of tickets available to Bank of Valletta in return of its sponsorship of the BOV Opera Festival is nowhere near what Dr Mallia claims in her article. Moreover, the bank normally avails itself of the tickets allocated to it during one single opera performance.
Bank of Valletta is proud to have supported the BOV Opera Festival since its inception in the year 2000. Since the staging of the first edition in 2000, BOV has sought to support and assist in the creation and staging of a unique event that could pay true homage to opera as well as to provide Maltese talented artists an opportunity to perform alongside other established foreign artists in their home country. Today, we are proud that this Festival has built for itself not only a strong local following but has also generated a lot of interest at an international level. Indeed, it is today one of the main highlights in Malta’s cultural calendar.
To date, Bank of Valletta has invested over Lm50,000 in making the BOV Opera Festival the high profile event it is today. We are proud that this Festival has built for itself not only a strong local following but has also generated a lot of interest at an international level. Through our investment, therefore, we are pleased to be contributing towards building Malta’s and the Manoel Theatre’s profile as an ideal stage for classical and operatic events. All this is in line with the bank’s commitment to be the leading patron of arts and culture in Malta.
We look forward to enhancing our collaboration with the Manoel Theatre Management Committee. In this regard, we are looking forward to a successful 7th edition of the BOV Opera Festival to be held next year and which will be launched in the near future.
