First innovation week to celebrate Edward de Bono’s six thinking hats

To celebrate the 20 anniversary of the launch of the Six Thinking Hats, the Edward de Bono Foundation (Malta) is partnering with various organisations to hold Innovation Week from 3 to 10 December 2005.
The first Innovation Week will focus on promoting Parallel Thinking, which is the core thinking principle promoted by the Six Thinking Hats. This formal method was developed by Dr Edward de Bono and is used worldwide in companies and by individuals to improve team working, personal effectiveness, be more innovative and creative.
The aim of Innovation Week is to build up an innovative society and make innovation and creativity an available asset to all, in all sectors of our lives: educational, business, social. Various public organisations, colleges, local councils, companies and non-government organisations are participating by organising an activity to promote INNOVATION during the week.
The seven days of this Innovation week will be spread on the following agenda:
- Classroom discussions with pupils using the Six Thinking Hats to explore a topic at Primary School Zejtun.
- Workshops for parents at Zejtun Primary B School.
- Public workshop ‘Parallel Thinking in the Community’ for Adults and Youngsters at BICMAD (Bahar ic-Caghaq).
- Internal Seminar at the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications an Introductory talk ‘Six Thinking Hats & Parallel Thinking’ at You are Not Alone Association. Followed by a Private lecture ‘Innovation Process Management’ for the Joint Royal Institution of Naval Architects and Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
- A Public seminar ‘The Innovation Challenge’ by Prof. H. Theilmann will be held tackling Activities based on Creativity with children and their parents at Qormi school; An Introductory talk ‘Six Thinking Hats & Parallel Thinking” to Moviment Era Gdida Association.
- An Internal seminar ‘MedShipyards 2020’ at Malta Shipyards, this Internal Seminar ‘The Six Thinking Hats, will be bringing different disciplines togetherHatsHa’ at MCAST; and an Introductory session to the Six Thinking Hats for inmates at Corradino Correctional Facility School.
- A Public seminar ‘Creativity in Business’ for Small Businesses (Venue: Malta Enterprise, San Gwann) in collaboration with the Secretariat for Small Business and the Self-Employed.
- An Internal Seminar ‘The Six Thinking Hats for Managers’ at ETC will be closing this Innovation Week.
