Appointing the next PBS chairman

No government or opposition member can deny that the national broadcasting station has been the subject of criticism for as long as it has existed. Neither can they deny that the recent criticism had unfolded, for the umpteenth time, governments’ shortfalls in the process of appointments.
The PM and his cabinet of ministers are obliged to take stock of what critics had to say in this regard. Government should seek to offer the chairmanship to the critic who had hit PBS hardest, and who has the capability and readiness to shoulder the responsibility the post demands. Determination to oust abuse, outside interferences and to succeed in the role entrusted to him, must also be apparent in the individual.
Government has to grant the selected candidate a clear mandate, including targets that need to be met in the short term (and possibly beyond), within a specific period of time.
Unless there is appropriate justification for failing to achieve the prescribed targets, the individual should be replaced.
To ensure the best results, remuneration should be linked to performance.
