With reference to Mr Giovanni de Martino’s letter “No Claims Bonus is a Joke” which appeared last Sunday, I would like to clarify Atlas’ position.
Although the mathematics, as Mr de Martino presented them, do not seem to make sense, his insurance policy is subject to a minimum premium of Lm45 plus duty and charges which amount to the total of Lm51.50 quoted. This is stated in capital letters near the final total of the premium calculation on his renewal notice.
We can safely say that minimum premiums are an industry standard, and no premium, in spite of No Claims Discount granted, will go below applicable minimum premiums.
