MLP against Ta’ Cenc development

James Debono

The Malta Labour Party has taken an official stand against the proposed development earmarked for Ta’ Cenc.
The development includes the extension of the present hotel, another new hotel, a heritage park, 49 bungalows and 57 villas on the Ta’ Cenc promontory.
Labour spokesperson for tourism Evarist Bartolo told MaltaToday that “considering the massive scale of this development, the kind of information passed on to the Sannat local council and the fast track procedure adopted by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, the Labour Party has decided to take a stand against the development, as it is being proposed.”
The Malta Labour Party still favours the development of a golf course at Ta’ Cenc, but it has made it clear it favours a standalone golf course without any accompanying residential and speculative development.
At present, the application for the development of a golf course at Ta’ Cenc by Victor Borg, the owner of the Ta’ Cenc Hotel, will only be considered after the completion of first phase of the project which involves massive residential development.
