My name is Ted “Dave” Williams, and along with loads of other army lads I was stationed at Ghadira Camp, Mellieha. In 1955 after our daily training was over, we would go to the village for relaxation. The people in the village were very friendly to us, and one particular family, springs to mind. The Mifsuds: Doris, Josephine and Imperia. Well after leaving Malta to Cyprus during this time we did not have a lot of time for correspondence, however I have renewed the acquaintance of Doris and Josephine but (at the moment) cannot find Imperia. I arranged for the family to have pen friends in England, and this exchange of letters and even going over to Malta to see them went on for quite a few years. I have been back to Mellieha on several occasions and met the two other sisters, along with my best friend, whom I met in 1956, Charlie Fenech his sister Carmen Saliba, and Tony. Charlie lives in England now and I am still in constant touch with him after 50 years. My love for your island hasn’t diminished over the years I still carry your cross of St John tattooed on my arm.
If any reader can give me any help over finding Imperia Mifsud I would be very grateful.
