EU funds are long-awaited surgery for Malta

I fully disagree with the way journalist Kurt Sansone described the Maltese economy, commencing his article by labelling it as “sexed up” (19 March, 2006).
He indicated that the economy was only kept afloat by the funds from the Italian protocol, and the funds from the EU.
That is exactly the point. It is a reason why we joined the EU amongst many others. By carefully investing the funds to increase our economy, eventually we will succeed to put the economy on a more stable footing.
It is up to our politicians
(whoever that maybe) now, to carefully invest the allocated funds. May I remind Mr Sansone that the funds will be available not as “a one-off injection”, but a complete surgery the nation has long been waiting for (Malta has EUR805,000,000 until 2013).
Let us wait for the healing process our country needs, and yes we will all reap the fruit of this great island nation of ours. May God bless all politicians, and even remind them that they are there to serve. And us, let us all thank the honest ones that give up their life for the benefit of this country.
