Bank of Valletta has been named as the best bank in Malta for 2006 by Global Finance.
BOV's name is included in the list of the “Best Emerging Market Banks—Central and Eastern Europe” in an exclusive survey that Global Finance magazine will be publishing in its May 2006 issue. Global Finance editors—with input from industry analysts, corporate executives and banking consultants—selected the best emerging market bank in the region and in 22 countries. Criteria for choosing the winners included growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing, and innovative products.
"We are delighted to receive this award and to be including in the prestigious list of best emerging market banks for central and eastern Europe," said Tonio Depasquale, Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Valletta. "The 2006 award by Global Finance underlines the strong fundamentals of Bank of Valletta as the leading financial institution in Malta. It also acknowledges the successful strategies we are implementing to position ourselves for further growth, taking full advantage of the new opportunities that emerge as Malta develops into a strong financial centre," said Mr. Depasquale. "The last time Global Finance selected BOV as the best bank in Malta was in 2002. Winning this award once again acknowledges the strong performance we continue to deliver, meeting our business objectives and working to facilitate our customers' success," concluded Depasquale.
