Hats off to Saviour Balzan’s opinion article “Scum of the earth” (MaltaToday, 16 April, 2006).
Regarding what he said about immigrants doing jobs the Maltese don’t want to do: when immigrants used to collect the homes’ refuse from Targa Gap, Mosta, one never hears a sound. You simply notice the rubbish is collected picked only because you saw no more plastic bags in the streets. But since the Maltese have returned to do the job, one only hears them shout and swear. Regarding behaviour: immigrants 1 - 0 Maltese.
