An alternative view

As the so-called debate about the merits (or otherwise) of The Da Vinci Code drones on.and on, it would be useful if some of the participants developed a sense of proportion.
The UK Independent on Sunday newspaper this week devoted two full pages to an interview with a man called Jack Valero who is Opus Dei’s chief spokesman in the UK.
Mr Valero, who is, significantly, a Spaniard and has been a member of Opus Dei for 30 years, has this to say about The Da Vinci Code – both book and film:
“This has given us huge exposure. We couldn’t buy this publicity. Opus Dei has become the best-known religious organisation in the country thanks to Dan Brown.”
So Opus Dei “couldn't buy this publicity”… what a refreshing attitude! And they can thank Dan Brown for it. Can everyone else now grow up please?
