Much has been said and promised by all those concerned regarding the reconstruction of Luqa Briffa Street in Gzira even by the minister’s correspondence way back in July 2005 stating instructions were given to the ADT to issue tenders for relative works. As everyone can see from this picture to date no works at all have ever took place and its condition has only aggravated.
The Malta Transport Authority took over 7 months just to issue such tenders and another two months for the adjudication to take place.
We are on the eleventh month since the minister passed instructions and this street remains extremely unsafe. Do we have to wait one whole year and more for such hazardous roads to be reconstructed and ultimately secure?
One comes to only two conclusions, it’s either the ADT that with its present workforce is not capable to have an efficient and fast process, or else such authority lacks motivation in hastening the reconstruction of such residential roads which all the country and its citizens are in desperate need of.
