Georg Sapiano and Beppe Fenech Adami will stand for election for the first time on behalf of the Nationalist Party in the next general election, their candidatures confirmed last Friday when the call for applications for all candidates closed.
Candidates were asked by the party to indicate which district they had the intention of contesting in.
A number of new candidates have put their name forward including Beppe Fenech Adami, who will be standing in the B’Kara district and lawyer Georg Sapiano. The lawyer and media personality will be contesting the ninth district.
The applications were accepted by PN secretary general Joe Saliba personally in his office. Party insiders have talked about the prospect of a national election in October or November of next year, just before the planned introduction of the Euro on 1 January 2008.
