Capitalism’s peaceniks

I find it unfortunate that, knowing the term Moonies is derogatory, you still use it in your headline. The term that is usually used for members of the “Family Church”, the shortened term used for what used to be known as the “Unification Church”, is “Unificationist”.
Rev Moon has created a number of businesses, as have many of our members, but I don’t know how you come by the use of the word “capitalism” in your phrase “Capitalism’s own brand of peaceniks”. Presumably one or more people own MaltaToday, but would you attach the word “capitalist” in describing the publication, possibly in contrast to a government tourist board publication?
I do not know Emmy Bezzina or anything about him, but you say in your article he is a lawyer. Norman Lowell seems a rather unsavoury character from what you write, but I presume Malta’s legal system also aspires to giving everyone a fair trial. Efforts were even made to give the accused Nazi war criminals a fair hearing – and the jurists in Iraq seem to be bending over backwards to let Saddam say all he wants. Not giving Lowell a fair trial would do more damage to Malta than to Lowell himself. I don’t see how Bezzina pursuing his professional work is relevant to him being, according to you, “the federation’s Malta representative”.

Amsterdam

Editorial note: There is no coyness about the grandiose capitalism of Rev Moon’s controversial movement, which includes supplying 9,000 American sushi restaurants with seafood and raw fish, while supported by its commercial powerhouse True World Group, which also has its own fleets of boats.
MaltaToday also has absolutely no qualms about the fundamental human right of fair trial, which is not the issue in the report concerned.
