Regarding the streaming question: everybody conveniently forgets that the greatest streaming exercise is the 11+ examination for the entry of 11-year-old boys into Church school.
This gruelling examination causes great stress and separates our children into two camps: the high-scoring A and B students who join the Church schools and the C students who end up in the Government’s Junior Lyceums.
Obviously, our politicians and many important opinion makers never mention this fact. They do not want to change the status quo because many of their children attend these Church schools.
In your “for and against” column the speakers failed to mention this fact. I wonder why?
