A 50 year-old hunter was accidentally killed yesterday by a shot fired from his nephew’s gun.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was in a field in Triq il-Hajt il-Wied in Zejtun, when his nephew opened fire from an adjacent field, accidentally hitting him just below his chin.
The hunter was killed on the spot, while his nephew – who is licensed to hunt – had to be treated for shock.
A magisterial inquiry was ordered, while police investigations are still ongoing.
Yesterday’s was the second hunting incident in a few days.
