Malta is autumn’s “golden great” with Luton getaway

Malta has been listed in The Guardian’s “golden greats” for this year’s autumn, now that low-fares giant Ryanair prepares to take off from Luton from October 31.
“Summer may be over but that doesn’t mean you have to go into hibernation,” the Guardian’s travel section announced earlier this week, listing Malta along with 50 music festivals, blockbuster art exhibitions, and sexy new hotels and short-break destinations.
“This Mediterranean island will soon be reinventing itself as a short break destination when Ryanair launches daily flights from Luton,” the newspaper said, whose hotel of choice is boutique hotel Juliani, overlooking St Julian’s bay.
Stiff competition was never far away though: prospective travellers were spoilt for choice with Malta being listed along with Rioja, Turkey, the Maldives, the New Orleans Voodoo music festival, and Fes.
