Lawrence Gonzi’s call to Nationalists to “get their dentures on”, indicating a hard slog for the election, may have managed
to recover 4.2 per cent more in support over the results of last month’s poll, even if it has not managed to overtake the MLP which has retained a comfortable lead of 4.1 per cent.
This is the fourth consecutive survey putting Labour in the lead, practically keeping the same level of support it had last month, an indication that the PN’s gains result from a small drop in support for AD and a decline in the number of undecided respondents.
Despite a small decline, the “party of non-voters” still manages to surpass the 20 per cent mark. Asked whether they would consider voting for a new party, 57 per cent of those intending not to vote replied yes, a sign of the vacuum in the political landscape not being filled by any of the three parties.
Although Labour continues to lead the polls, the outcome of the next election is still uncertain for 42
per cent of respondents. While only 24.1 per cent of respondents think the PN is going to win, 34.1 per cent say Labour will emerge victorious.
Labour voters are far more confident than Nationalist voters that their party will form the next government – 67.4 per cent of those intending to vote for the MLP think their party is going to win, but only 55.8 of those intending to vote for the PN think likewise.
