PBS rapped over ‘Arani Issa’

Public Broadcasting Services have received a warning by the Broadcasting Authority for allowing a sponsor to appear as a co-producer in a programme.
The Authority acted on its own initiative over the airing of makeover programme ‘Arani Issa’ presented by Joseph Chetcuti, and which featured Dr Josie Muscat of St. James Hospital performing cosmetic surgery, while the programme was also sponsored by the same medical centre.
While the issue is being investigated also by the Medical Council over an alleged breach of code of ethics by Dr Muscat, the Broadcasting Authority summoned PBS executives to hear their position about the matter.
In a statement, the Broadcasting Authority explained that it had immediately noted that the mistakes were corrected.
