Two young workmen were seriously injured yesterday, after falling down a shaft at a construction site in Qawra.
According to emergency services, the two men fell backwards into the shaft while they were lifting stone slabs and placing them to build a supporting exterior wall.
Paramedics and civil protection personnel were rushed to the scene and offered immediate assistance to the workers who were subsequently rushed to hospital, and certified to be suffering for serious injuries to their backs and legs.
The two are not reported to be in danger of dying.
