Three audit firms service all listed companies

Three audit firms share between them the audit services of 13 locally listed equities.
Worldwide there are four audit firms that are known as the big four since they handle the audits of the companies that are listed on different Stock Exchanges.
In Malta, KPMG is the auditor of six locally listed companies. It audits no less than three banks; HSBC, FIMbank and Lombard. Moreover it is the auditor of Maltacom, International Hotel Investments and the latest listed equity Medserv.
Closely following it is PriceWaterhouseCoopers that audits four listed firms: GlobalCapital, Middlesea, Simonds Farsons Cisk and Plaza.
The third firm involved in auditing locally listed companies is Deloitte that handles Bank of Valletta, Malta International Airport and Suncrest.
The alternative list of the Malta Stock Exchange has one listed company, Datatrak Holdings plc. This is also audited by KPMG, making this audit firm the auditor of half of the locally listed and traded companies.
The other global audit firm that has a local operation is Ernst and Young, which is not responsible for any audit of public listed companies.
