The principal of the Junior College sixth form, Godfrey Muscat, has allegedly banned the distribution of a student publication, Ir-Realtà, on the college grounds.
Muscat has not yet answered questions put to him asking for the reasons for refusing the students behind Realtà from disseminating their newspaper-style publication, featuring anti-globalisation themes, music reviews, and environmental issues.
MaltaToday is informed Muscat has acknowledged the newspaper’s questions but was unable to answer them due to other commitments.
The student organisation Realtà said the Junior College principal had no problems with the publication in the last scholastic year. Their flagrant description of Muscat’s ban on the publication is “a blasphemous act of censorship similar to Nazi oppression.”
The organisation said the principal gave no reason for refusing permission to distribute the paper, and has denied communication with the students on the issue.
They vowed to persist in the dissemination of the publication.
