Two men from Marsascala were yesterday charged under arrest in court for fraud amounting to Lm50,000 to the detriment of a number of companies.
David Coleiro, 42, and Raymond Debono, 50 denied the charges brought by the police, and managed to be released on bail following a heated debate between the prosecution and defense.
Prosecutor Ian Abdilla explained to court that police investigations had revealed that David Coleiro had been dealing with a number of companies over the sale of imported items.
The same companies were then being asked by Raymond Debono that Libyan companies were interested to buy Coleiro’s products.
Defending lawyer Jason Azzopardi, appearing for Coleiro, denied what the prosecution said and challenged the prosecution to produce any proofs of the mentioned negotiations. Coleiro and Debono were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.
