Antsat director cleared of staging hold-up
Carmel Farrugia, 55 of Marsaskala was cleared by a court of staging a hold-up to defraud his insurance agency. Farrugia, a director of Antsat Ltd was acquitted of charges after Magistrate Antonio Mizzi ruled on conflicting evidence presented to court by prosecution.

Two charged over hospital tender
Noel Xuereb, 42 of St. Julians who worked as an investments systems officer at the Ministry of IT and Investments, and a part-time consultant to a tendering consortium for the IT system at Mater Dei Hospital Pierre Mercieca, 42 of Attard, were remanded in custody after being charged with bribery and leakage of sensitive information during the adjudication process.

Russian in critical condition
A 30 Russian national was admitted to hospital and was reported to be in a critical condition after a crossbar fell and hit his head while playing football in Manoel Island.

New Archbishop installed
Mons Paul Cremona was installed as Malta’s new Archbishop in a five-hour ceremony at St. John’s Co-Cathederal. Archbishop Cremona was greeted by thousands who thronged Valletta’s main streets.

NSA confirms director’s resignation
The National Statistics Authority confirmed that it “regrettably” received the resignation of NSO director Gordon Cordina.
