So it now transpires that the Prime Minister is having election jitters. I am not surprised. He has been brushing aside all signs of
weakness in the party and the over confidence he has been trying to project is exploding in the party face.
One might ask why? Since becoming leader of the PN he has let the party push him along – when he should have taken the bull by the horns and pushed the party on the straight and narrow path of righteousness.
He now has a load of millstones around his neck which are destined to drown him and his party. The Mater Dei fracas has been thrust upon the Maltese tax payer and threatens to bankrupt the country – not only has it cost double what it should have cost, the running expenses are bound to drain the coffers once it is in operation.
Malta House in Brussels is another spendthrift operation to accommodate RCC and his expensive whims. And what about the Mgarr Harbour saga? Another big – nay, huge – expense to humour Mrs Debono, which has done nothing but ruin the operation of the harbour in Gozo, now in utter chaos. And whilst on Gozo, what about the extravagant expense of the Ta Pinu road? A smelly affair if ever there was one.
The Prime Minister has a lot to answer for. He has ridden roughshod over all the people’s pleas for justice. I personally twice sent him a complete file regarding police injustice, and another time another file with details of another injustice perpetrated by a developer and his architect. In both cases my pleas were ignored. So many people did the same and none received any justice.
The people have complained thousands of times about the warden scourge. A band of tax collectors if ever there was one. In Christ’s time they were called Pharisees – now they are called wardens, although the Maltese have found another way to call them: a nickname which has stuck.
The history of Dr Gonzi’s track record is indeed very long, but the short of it is the hardiest party supporters are disillusioned and therefore will continue to protest with their vote. The local election results are demonstratively clear.
